Description
Project Description: This project involves constructing a full-wave rectifier circuit using a bridge rectifier to convert AC voltage to a smoother DC voltage. The circuit includes a transformer to step down the AC voltage if necessary, and a bridge rectifier to perform the rectification.
Students will connect the AC power source to the primary side of the transformer (if used) and the secondary side to the bridge rectifier. The bridge rectifier consists of four diodes arranged in a bridge configuration. A load resistor is connected across the output of the rectifier, and a capacitor is connected in parallel with the load resistor to smooth the output.
By measuring the input and output voltages with an oscilloscope and multimeter, students can analyze the rectification process, observe the waveform changes, and calculate the efficiency of the rectifier. The project demonstrates the principles of full-wave rectification, including the function of the bridge rectifier and the effect of smoothing capacitors.
